My name is Hannah Thomason and I have experience in a couple of different things. I served for a one year at the Joplin Cafe and loved it and I loved interacting with each and every one of my regulars daily and making sure all of my customers were satisfied and of course full! I then resigned from serving for a personal reason and decided to become a seasonal Stocker at Hobby Lobby. I took the responsibility daily of making sure we had what we needed in stock and refilling shelves with what we needed and once a week went around with my device and ordered what we needed for our next truck and did a lot of climbing up and down ladders and moving boxes that were between 20-75 lbs. I also interacted with a lot of customers to make sure they found what they needed and to make sure they were happy and satisfied. I also blocked off every isle when stocking to make sure all of our customers stayed safe in case of something falling. During my time being a seasonal worker at 17 years old with my 18th birthday coming up in December I had thought about what I wanted to do and decided that I wanted to help individuals with disabilities because I felt that was my passion and as an only child that grew up with her father that was deaf I felt like that is what I do best and went straight into working for The Arc of the Ozark and loved every single bit of it and I loved being able to see the difference I was making in individuals lives and to see them experience life the way everyone else does and it was honestly just a blessing and I loved watching the excitement when an individual met certain goals and how proud of themselves they were. I loved waking up every single day ready to go to work because I loved it. I then had to resign from my position with them because of a personal reason. I am currently a 988 Video Phone Crisis Counselor working for DeafLEAD interacting with deaf, hard of hearing or coda callers or anyone in general who knows American Sign Language. My role here as a Crisis Counselor is to deescalate someone in crisis to the best of my ability by active listening, validating their feelings and allowing them to reflect off of their own feelings but let them know they are heard and that I as a Crisis Counselor am here to support them in the best way possible and create safety/action plans with them when they feel they are going into distress. I also do risk assessments to determine how bad of a crisis the caller is in and the best way to keep them safe. I love my role here at DeafLEAD and knowing how much you could make a difference in somebody's day is so important to me. I am also very outgoing and have amazing work ethic and am very trust worthy!
