Supervises a medium staff of security personnel by interviewing applicants and recommending for hire, providing training, making work assignments, approving leave, and evaluating the performance of incumbents.

Coordinates transportation of inmates to and from other units, federal courts, medical appointments and other assigned designations.

Updates security changes and work schedules to ensure accurate coverage for transportation of inmates.

Maintains records on inmate movements and compiles reports of transportation activities and vehicle maintenance.

Participates in apprehension of escapees, provides security to authorized groups visiting the unit, and authorizes issuance of weapons, ammunition, and vehicles.

Investigates incidents by interviewing officers and inmates to obtain information regarding security aspects of transportation.

Attends and conducts various meetings, including staff meetings and briefings, with the next work shift. Develops standard operating procedures, in accordance with agency policies governing transportation, and prepares and maintains budget within the transportation division.
