- Get in front of any orthopedic surgeon who does shoulder replacements to discuss benefits and gain success stories regarding interscalene brachial plexus blocks with Exparel. Ask to help sponsor/speak at any local upper extremity society they belong too. Current user I know to gain insight, Dr. Paul Cowan
- Meet with any general surgeon requesting TAP blocks for their robotic, colon, hernia cases. Maybe off label? Current users I can hear value stories, Olathe Med general surgeons.
- Rinse and repeat for any specialty that uses regional nerve blocks for their procedures.
- When I find champion users get them in front of their colleagues to discuss Exparel in a group setting. Utilize social media to promote, with consent, where appropriate. Dr. Michael Boin could be a candidate.
- Cold call any and all surgeons who prescribe pain medications post-op. Leave no stone unturned.
- Be prepared to handle objections and have a rebuttal. If cost is not an issue and the target is on the fence sell as prophylactic. Why not try to extend the pain relief?
- Work with the academic medical centers, ask how we can be of service to the anesthesia residency programs.
- Goal of having Exparel approved at all hospitals within a year. I heard it is not on formulary at St. Luke's(per Dr. Jacob Miller). NOPAIN Act could possibly open that door.
