Assembles procurement and preservation equipment and ensures the correct preservation solutions
are available and prepared for all organ procurement cases, including Donation after Brain Death
(DBD), Donation after Circulatory Death (DCD), and Living Donation Cases, if required
Manages preservation solutions in the OR and acts as a circulator during organ recovery
Assists with back table sterile set up, packing and perfusion of NRP cases
Assists with packaging of organs and specimens in accordance with Organ Procurement and
Transplantation Network (OPTN) Policies
Performs surgical dissection of cadaver kidneys including cleaning fat and obtaining
Performs pulsatile perfusion, including cannulation of arteries, initiation of pumping, management and
documentation during therapy, removal from pump, and decannulation, if necessary
Performs ex-vivo normothermic liver perfusion therapy utilizing the OrganOx Metra device, including
device set up and management, associated documentation, transportation of organ on device,
cleaning and return to service of equipment
Operate cardiac cath laboratory equipment and serve in a first assist role during cardiac
catheterization procedures
Assist the Tissue Work System (TWS) by learning to recover heart for valves and completing
associated documentation
Provides Organ Preservation for Flyout and Import Cases
Packs appropriate equipment and preservation solutions required for flyout organ recovery
Management of Organ referrals and Organ allocation to maximize donation gifts. Navigation of electronic medical records to validate suitability of Organ donation. Staff deployment for end of life decisions and new referrals. Communication with all of Organ team, Allocation of all organs.
