I wear my heart on my sleeve and have a passion for helping people, whatever that looks like. I will show tough love to those when they need it but my intentions are never shy of being great.
I have never felt more accomplished than when I was at Greene County and I was able to help people who were mentally struggling come out of it and provide them with resources to make their lives better for when they got out of jail. One instance was when I was working a female unit and one of the inmates who’s last name I knew as “Britain” was talking to me about how she can get out of addiction and saying “what am I going to do when I get out of here?” So, I told her, I hadn’t struggled with addiction myself but in the past I had drank a bit more alcohol than I normally do and I realized I was masking the real issue in my life and not facing it head on. So I told her through my experience, therapy had helped me immensely process through all my problems, issues and emotions and helped me overcome those things to where I didn’t need the alcohol anymore. I gave her plenty of affordable therapy resources she can go to when she gets out of jail and where to find them. She smiled at me like I had helped her find the missing puzzle piece. That made me feel good inside that I had helped her and put a smile on her face. She had a sense of hope to her, the rest of the time she was at Greene County and I hadn’t seen her back in custody ever since.
