The positions within Jefferson County Code Service were all a part of of the one position for which I was hired. When first hired, my position was for a building inspector. I was asked to come into plan review, and gladly did so, as it was an opportunity to learn more about the process, and code enforcement.
Not only did the position involve plan review and inspections, but also was asked to go out to several violation visits, and narcotic busts along with Jefferson County Sheriff special investigation units.
The previous Code Manager left and was then asked to perform as Interim Manager. Which I did, and identified several facets of the department that could be improved. The position was offered, several times, but the improvements would not be implemented. The position in Heavy Fleet came about and I chose to move to that department, as it was higher pay, and I have extensive knowledge regarding fleet management.
This was a great opportunity to experience Government service.
I was blessed to be a part of many improvements within the Town and was recognized for my efforts.
We were able to build a new visitor center/rest area in the Town 90% funded by State of Wy.
a new Ag Complex, indoor arena
We were in the process of building an airport, in 2007 when the economy dipped. It did not come to fruition, but the State Aeronautics and the Town Council were both excited and ready to move the project forward. The State of Wyoming paid for and conducted a study of the area which indicated a need in that area for an airport. I believe with the information my team provided, there will be an airport there in the future.
The only reason I left there was to assist my Family in the transportation business that was experiencing great difficulty. They asked that I come back to revive, but the business was found woefully behind the times. and I determined it best to help salvage their last existing contract, and then move on. Which is when I started to work at Jefferson County MO.
I took this position to enable my Family to move to Wyoming. Great experience, and was chosen for many special projects: moving draglines, shovels, hauling on top of high wall. I only left the position to be able to spend more time with my Family. The shifts were 12.5 hours, and I was asked to move into a position that would require 14+ hours. The position within the Town of Wright became available, I applied and took the position.
