Accomplishments

  • Volunteered on 5 North (old Hospital, 96) for my senior school Project.
  • Started my medical job as a UA (Unit Assistant, nurse aide/secretary) on 5 North. Neuro/ENT/Surgery floor. Amy Buandistal was the Head Nurse at the time. After Volunteering on her floor, she offered me a job.
  • Trained in Phlebotomy, VS, patient care, and secretarial duties.
  • Transferred to Neuro/TX ICU (5ICU) after a few years on 5 North and was trained as a PCA (Patient Care assistant/PCT). Angie West, head RN at the time.
  • Attended PCT course in DuPaul Hospital.
  • As a PCA/PCT, I assessed, charted, bathed, cared, advocated, and reported conditions to my covering RN/MD of patiets.
  • As a PCA/PCT, I assisted doctors with Aline, Central line, Ventric, and Codman insertions.
  • When SSM bought us, I was demoted to Care Partner. This when I began to be a resource to ALL CPs in the hospital. I would be pulled from my department to train the new CPs in many floors.
  • In ICU, I was in charge of training new PCAs, and UAs.
  • In ICU, I was responsible for the department stock of supplies.
  • My Care Partner Coach program began in development. It was a program where I would train, re-evaluate, and hold CPs accountable of their job duties.
  • For 6 months, I picked up extra shifts in the ER for variety.
  • I was at one point promoted to CP2.
  • After some time, I transferred to PACU. Marla Lopez, Manager at the time.
  • In PACU, I am responsible for Patient care, department stock, assist with ECTs, fix computer issues, fix mechanical supplies and be asked to precept new ICU Techs for other floors.
  • At some point, I was demoted to CP1.
  • During my 27 years, I have attended Sanford Brown college for an opportunity to become an LPN. Finished the training, bur never took the test.
  • I am currently working in going to St Louis Community College to further my opportunity be an RN.
