  • Examining blast areas to determine amounts and types of explosive charges needed and to ensure that safety laws are observed. I measure the depths of drill blast holes and mark patterns and depths of charge holes for drills and issue drilling instructions. I also inspect the blasting area to ensure that the area is safe and signal workers to clear area.
  • Placing explosive charges in holes then detonating explosives to loosen rock.
  • Tying the lead line to form blast patterns and tying specified lengths of delaying fuses into patterns in order to time sequences of explosions in order to meet required regulations set forth by the company as well as following federal and state laws.
  • Lifting and pulling equipment that is 150+ pounds and working in extreme weather conditions. Operating heavy machinery and using tools such as seismographs and drones on a daily basis. I also work with a GPS and locating coordinates for each blasting area.
  • Working in an underground mining setting where I blast large areas of rock in a controlled environment.
  • Completing daily paperwork and being able to analyze each blast in detail and making qualified decisions based on the results. I also keep inventory of blasting equipment and product on a daily basis.
  • Filling in for site manager as needed.
  • Ensure safety of team members equipment and operating activities.
