  • This job did not even feel like a job. UCP heartland puts on a six week program for students with disabilities that ultimately gives them work experience they can use for their resumes in the future.
  • They were placed at a "job site" and that is where they would work for the next six weeks. My job was to basically be their coach. I would encourage them if they were frustrated on a task, provide them with problem solving skills, and work on their communication with the staff around them and customers.
  • I would also write reports weekly giving my employer a little glimpse on if they were improving their soft skills each week or if there was specific skills I needed to work on with them.
