Eagle Scout 2021
. My Eagle Scout project is one of my greasiest accomplishments and will be at the school for a long time, Enjoyed by all the students and staff who go through that school over the next 100 years of so. So in scouting you are working on a goal to become Eagle Scout. You are working through the scout program working on merit badges that are required for Eagle as well as personal merit badges. You are at same time learning how to be a leader and many other life long skills along the way. You have ranks to archive to the point you can start to do an Eagle project. I rent through Scout Rank, Tenderfoot rank, 2nd class rank, 1st class rank, Star rank, life rank then my Eagle rank and project. Each rank has a set of steps to do and preform and a time frame along with service hours to others. As you are always thinking about an Eagle project and what you want to do to give back to your community. I was always impressed with my brothers Eagle project and went to the same school he had done his Eagle project at. When we had a server tornado come through St. Charles it had hit my brothers Eagle project at the school site. It even destroyed the two shad trees on the site. It was sad to see and I wanted to fix it and improve the site. So I set to work at making the site usable again for an outdoor area the students could enjoy. So as the flag pole was still at the site but it had also been hit by lightning and the Eagle on top of pole and broke I knew that was his project and it could not be used in my project I went to work on putting a proposal together and getting it approved by our troops Eagle board. the school and the school board. Working with the school was easy for me because I wanted to make the best outdoor space around the flag pole from my brothers Eagle project. So I put my plan together with what the school wanted and I wanted. my plan was in place I would be doing landscaping around the pole it was a 20X25 foot pad with 5 concert benches benches placed around the flag pole, A 8ft by 9ft walkway from sidewalk to the pad and a smaller walkway coming out of a side door so kids would not be walking through grass and get wet feet. I also added two nice trees that were planted to help with shade for the site to replace the two trees destroyed by the tornado. A scout is thrifts and I cleaned 3 steeping stones that were already on site and added 7 more stones on the stone path leading to the rock pad. I then had to present my project to District Eagle Board for approval. I got my approval in Jan 2021 and started working on logistics of the project. I had to fundraise the money to put the project in. I went to all the local hardware stores and asked for donations to the project to keep the project cost down. I had to open a checking account to place my fundraised money in and be able to pay for all my supplies needed for the project. I wanted to add some annual flowers or plants around the rock pad to make it look eye catching. I just did not want to only add plants I wanted it to look good even in the colder months. I was able to work with the principal of the school and with another scout I was able to go into the school with smaller rocks and lots of paint getting the young students to paint and make it look beautiful. These rocks were than phased inbetween the plants on the edge of the rock pad. The students did an amazing job and when when the project was completed they came out and placed the stone. The students were very proud of what they painted so when they graduate pre school they can take the rock they painted home and the new students the next school year paint more rocks and place them on pad for all to see and enjoy. It has become part of the schools way of keeping the site friendly and looking great. I did donate a brand new Eagle for the top of the flag pole which the school had placed for all to see. Then I had to finish all the paper work and work again with our troops Eagle board to get ready to present my project to them. On may 10 2021 I went before the board with my completed project. I was asked many questions and had many photos of what the site looked like then and know I was finished. It was on that night I was awarded Eagle Scout the highest rank in scouting. Yet I was not finished because I had fundraised more money than I needed and had to attend a School board meeting to give the school the remanding money which was $650.00 dollars to the school. The board was very impressed and excepted the fund to go to Hackman Early childhood center. The school bought some much needed special education toys for the school in my name. So from planning, funding, getting volunteers to help me my project and completing it its enjoyed by the young students and teachers of the school.
