Contact and interview claimants and/or employers to get additional information. Pay and process claims within designated authority level. Enter claim payments, reserves, and new claims on computer system, inputting concise yet sufficient file documentation. Maintain claim file, such as records of settled claims and an inventory of claims requiring detailed analysis. Report overpayments, underpayments, and other irregularities. Keep records of assigned cases and prepare required reports. Answer applicants’ questions about benefits and claim procedures. Schedule benefits claimants for adjudication interviews to address questions of eligibility. Investigate claimants for the possibility of fraud or abuse. Monitor the payments of benefits throughout the duration of the claim. Initiate procedures to grant, modify, deny, or terminate assistance, or refer applicants to other agencies for assistance.
