This section will be dynamic, based upon the role which I am applying for. I will want to start off with why the role is interesting to me and relate it to personal experience. Then, I will give personal qualities of myself which relate to the role. Lastly, leave with an inspirational or exciting message about what the future could hold.
After completing my first semester at Avila, I was approached by my economics professor, Malcolm Gold, to tutor Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. Throughout the next three years, I worked with students of all backgrounds and knowledge levels to ensure and enrich positive learning outcomes. This includes, but is not limited to, organizing study groups, structuring group projects, editing and revising written work, and one-on-one problem solving. While I started out providing strictly economics help, my competencies quickly grew as I took more classes. Today, I tutor subjects ranging from basic algebra to business law, and everything in between. As a result, I have the privilege of regularly interacting with a large portion of our school population and faculty. While I have learned a lot in my time as a tutor, my biggest takeaway is how valuable knowledge can be.
As a junior in high school, I was selected by Inside Edge owner, Todd Clausen, to teach fielding skills to IE prospects as part of the 'Winter Infield Clinic.' Running annually and varying between 6 and 10-week sessions, the infield clinic provided hands-on, experienced instruction to a multitude of ballplayers in a constructive and friendly environment. This experience was quite valuable to me, as it was my first time regularly relating material to someone younger than I. As a select few, my associates and I had the privilege of working with former Major League Baseball infielder Dave Silvestri.
Throughout my childhood, I played baseball for Inside Edge, a local club focused on moving prospective high school players to the collegiate level. As someone who was always at the batting cage, honing my skills, I was an easy choice to supervise IE's training facilities once I turned 16. This role included opening and closing in a prompt manner, managing a comfortable internal temperature, cleaning the facilities, organizing baseball equipment and other inventory, equipment maintenance, and, above all else, ensuring the safety of all patrons. Later on in my tenure, Inside Edge expanded to multiple additional facilities. This often meant traveling between facilities as demanded, to ensure a positive and productive environment.
