Experienced Microbiologist with over two years of research on antimicrobial resistance among Gram-negative bacteria. Proven expertise in designing and executing complex experiments to investigate antibiotic resistance and molecular mechanisms associated with resistance. I am skilled in utilizing advanced laboratory techniques and cutting-edge technologies to analyze biomolecules and contribute to the understanding of biological systems. My work also extends to studying the interactions of quantum dots and pathogenic bacteria both in biofilm and planktonic forms using advanced imaging techniques.

Work History
Wet-Lab Assistant
Koç University İş-Bank Center for Infectious Diseases (KUISCID)
Türkiye
04.2022 - 10.2023
Supervised by Prof Dr. Onder Ergönül, I worked as a Wet-lab assistant on the Pfizer Multi-center project in Türkiye. The project aimed to survey the clinical, bacteriological, and molecular characteristics of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa hospital infections by assessing new antimicrobial agents (Ceftazidime-avibactam and piperacillin-tazobactam), emerging resistance, and clinical effectiveness. I assisted in performing sample collection, database organization, stock preparation and culturing techniques, PCR, and AST using routine broth microdilution.

01.2021 - 01.2023
I worked with post-doctoral fellow Dr. Nazli Ataç on two research projects: Enhanced antimicrobial PDT of 5-ALA in combination with antimicrobial PTT using SPIONs and Antimicrobial activity of type-II InP/AnO quantum dots against biofilm-related bacterial infections. Photocatalytic nanomaterials, such as Quantum Dots (QDs) show promise as an alternative treatment for bacterial infections. Here, we demonstrate the antimicrobial activity of these QDs against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria using cell culture, light exposure, and advanced imaging techniques.

My work in Dr. Füsun Can Lab at KUISCID focused on the effectiveness of siderophore conjugated cephalosporin antibiotic cefiderocol against carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacteria using broth microdilution antimicrobial susceptibility technique. In this work, we concentrated on identifying genes associated with cefiderocol resistance in the Pseudomonas aeruginosa iron uptake system.
