Work History

Journeyman Lineman

IBEW Local 2
St Louis
09.2018 - Current
  • My background is somewhat of a mix of IT, fiber splicing, and outside construction on both the electrical side, and the communication side.
  • Working as a network engineer for a communications company, building Wi-Fi networks, battery backup systems and large satellite dish construction for hotels, telephone companies, and cable companies.
  • From there, I went into outside construction on the communication side, building coax and fiber networks.
  • I worked to earn a fiber splicing certification from the FOA (Fiber Optics Association) at Washington University in St. Louis, and I spliced fiber for a subcontractor of Spectrum and a subcontractor of Mastec in Puerto Rico(River City construction) in Puerto Rico.
  • Transitioning into the electrical side of outside construction on the non-union side, and eventually becoming a non-union lineman until entering the apprenticeship program at MoValley on September 25th, 2018.
  • I topped out on September 9th, 2021. 2 years, 11 weeks, and 15 days later.
  • From there, I have worked on a variety of different systems, voltages, and construction types. I have mostly been traveling since I topped out, working on anything from single-phase distribution to 500 triple-bundle lattice.
